Part 2

We went hiking again last weekend.  We have an annual pass to Red Rock and it had rained the entire week previous to our hike.  Luckily for us, it snowed in the Red Rocks.  It was so awesome.  We did this same hike some time last year with my parents.  Except this time, that spot looked more like this.  It was like a whole different world.  My mom was able to come up on a last minute trip for the weekend so she went with us on the hike and so did Charlie.  It was the first time in a long time that we got more comments about Charlie than we did about Cooper!

We also got to watch Owen on Saturday for a few hours while his parents worked.  He is such a cute kid.  We put all our baby stuff away up in the attic to make way for Cooper's more sophisticated toys so we didn't have a whole lot for Owen to do.  It was impossible work, holding a three month old all day... just kidding, I forgot how much fun it is!  He is smiling now, so we took a few pics and sent them off to mom and dad at work so they could smile for the day.

On Saturday night we got a chance to go out with some friends (we had a free babysitter in Nonna after all!) and we got to see the Blind Side.  It was so great!  I wanted to see it but didn't think it would be that good, I'm a sucker for sports movies though.  Remember the Titans??  Practically an epic.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hikin'

In case the title didn't give it away... the Wards went hiking this weekend. We went out to Red Rock early in the morning and found a new trail. We tested Charlie's limits, by the end I was convinced I'd have to give him some Tylenol to get through the night. We found a good stop overlooking much of the canyon to take some pictures and let Cooper out of his backpack. It was a little unsteady at first but he figured out how to crawl over spots that were too hard for climbing. He seemed to really enjoy it. He pointed out the rocks and planes that he saw for us and counted out three rocks everywhere he went... 'one, two, fee!!!!' and sometimes he would say, 'one, two, fiiiiyyeeee' (his version of five).

Charlie loves hiking with us, he just isn't as quick as he'd like to be. We got to a few steep areas and instead of following our steps, he tried to walk along the side of us! It took some getting used to. He also doesn't understand the concept of just drinking the water he sees as he goes by it. It was around 55 degrees out and he would drink half of the little body of water he saw and then try to lay in it. Odd, he doesn't like to swim, but he will immediately lay down in any body of water he finds.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Christmas Fun!

We can't believe the Christmas season is already behind us again. We always get so excited and have so much fun and then it's over as quickly as it started! This year we got to spend a couple of days with both our families and it was just wonderful to see everybody. Christmas Eve Day we had a brunch with Ryan's family and followed that up with dinner at my grandparents' house in Ahwatukee. There was a lot of driving but it was all worth it. Christmas morning was awesome with great gifts and good food. It's always nice when Santa stops by.

We got home on Sunday where Ryan and I got to have our own Christmas. There were a couple of presents under the tree for Cooper, but let's be honest, mostly it was all about us! After spending four days opening tons of new toys for Cooper, he proceeded to spend all of Sunday evening... playing with old toys that he hadn't played with in months...
We kept trying to get his new stuff out but it was hilarious watching him play with his old toys as if they didn't exist until that night! By the next day though, he had all his new blocks and other toys strewn about. Ryan and I got a bunch of vacuums for Christmas, three to be exact! We couldn't tell if our family thought our house was REALLY messy or if they just thought we needed a better vacuum (it's the latter of the two, I'm sure of it). The other night, Ryan got one of them out and used it in the kitchen; you'd have thought we got a new video game or something. He was saying, 'Cool! It's just a battery! Look at all the hair it sucked up from Charlie!' I think he used it three more times that night. It seems odd to be excited about vacuums, but I really am! It's the little things in life right?!?!

On to the next month and a new year! Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
