Labor Day Weekend!

Oh man... we have been out and about this weekend!  The other day there was a free concert in the park down by the waterfront... it was the Oregon Symphony!!  We LOVE free stuff and there seems to be a lot of it here in town.  I do, however, make the mistake of thinking we are the only people who like free stuff, so when the concert started at 7 and I said, 'oh we'll just get there around 7 or 7:15', this is what we saw.  Whoops, apparently EVERYBODY likes free stuff!  When they played the 1812 Overture, there was an army unit there shooting off cannons in time with the music.  It was in the evening and because it was close to Cooper's bed time we didn't stay long.

Then we went found a new park near our house that is actually hundreds of acres of hiking trails!  It was so much fun!  We are headed there again today for another hike with Cooper.  He seems to like it and while we were on the hike, there was a mom there with her son and they saw us and said, 'are you guys slug hunting too?'.  Sure enough about 100 yards later, there was a HUGE slug right on the path.  So then Cooper thought pretty much every leaf and piece of dirt was a slug for the rest of the trip!

On Sunday, we took a drive up to Seattle to visit my cousin Merle, his wife Sarah, and their baby Tea (pronounced Tay-uh).  We hadn't been up to Seattle since we moved here and it's only about a 3 hour drive (as long as you don't hit traffic).  There is a park right by their house and right by the beach so we had Cooper play there for a bit to tire him out and he went down the slide all by himself for the first time!!  Then the kids fell asleep in their strollers while we walked... and walked... and walked!  It was so beautiful!  At one point, we spotted a baby seal just hanging out on the beach getting a sun tan.  By the time we walked back, someone had come and put caution tape up around the seal so no one would touch it!  It was the first time I got to meet Tea and Cooper just loved her!  Hopefully we can see them again soon so they can play.

Ryan and I also get to celebrate 9 years together this weekend and what fun it's been!  Happy Labor Day everybody!  Pictures here.

Shoes!

At some point a few months ago, I noticed that Cooper had a shoe fetish.  If he sees shoes, he makes sure that the left and right are together and perfectly lined up.  But the funnier thing is that when he sees shoes, ANY shoes, he will put them on.  Sometimes they are on the right feet and sometimes not, but regardless, he will put them on and walk a few feet in them before realizing it's more difficult to do when they are about 4 times the size of your foot.  I have taken the liberty of capturing some of these moments on photo and thought I'd share them!  He is just so fun!

What We've Been Up To!

We've mostly just been hanging out and enjoying ourselves.  We love having Olivia around and Cooper seems to love her as well.  He is still stuck on wanting to hug, kiss, and hold her.  There are only a few moments that he has gotten upset with having a new baby sister!

We spent a few afternoons up at the beach where two different rivers meet.  We had to go there to get out of the heat!  Olivia was only about a week old at that point.  We drove out to the Coast one day, we checked out the parks so Cooper could play in the water, and today we stopped by the children's museum and had a ball.

It's hard to say if we take as many pictures of Olivia as we did of Cooper... Cooper seems to be in most of our pictures with Olivia!  He just likes being a big brother.
