It's a song by Tim McGraw. Last year when we were in Mexico, the hotel played it EVERYDAY during the midday water aerobics activity. I loved it, but they only played part of the song. I started remembering the song again a few weeks before we left for the trip. That song always makes me smile and think of our trips to Puerto Penasco. We were lucky enough to accompany my parents and and Aunt and Uncle (and another couple, Gail and Gary!) down to the beach yet again this year. We look forward to this trip every year now and get excited when we get close to it. This year was going to be especially exciting because Cooper was walking and could really have fun at the beach... or so we thought.
On Friday when we drove down there, Cooper was battling a high fever. He spent the next three days doing his best to feel well, but still high on Motrin! Once the fever subsided, this new, odd and not at all fun thing happened. Cooper decided to learn how to exert his independence. He just thought it would be awesome if he threw what's called a temper tantrum in the middle of the pool where everyone was relaxing and enjoying the sun. The TT was unlike anything either one of us had ever experienced before. It's not like we thought Cooper wouldn't ever have one, it's just that we had never thought about it AT ALL. Then about four days into this trip, I took Cooper out of the pool to put a dry diaper on him. What's confusing here is that he had a diaper that was FULL OF WATER, why would he not want it off you ask? I asked the same question when he started wriggling all over the bed, screaming and trying to crawl away from me as if he were possessed. All I could think to myself was, 'Really?!?! You chose the pool in front of an audience for your first TT? Awesome.'
One night, some clouds were rolling in and we went down to the beach for sunset. Cooper started the walk out there like this, fully clothed. Seconds later, he looked like this. Let me preface this by saying earlier in the day, I could not, under any circumstances get Cooper to go into the ocean without crying. So, we get down to the beach and Cooper becomes enthralled with the holes in the sand, something Nonna had shown him earlier. Within a few minutes, I took off his sweater, just in case he got wet and didn't have anything dry to wear. Auntie walked with him into the water a bit but let him know that if he wasn't careful he would get wet; then because I knew Auntie was right, I gently guided him to a more dry area. Then this happened. So, he ended up looking like this. By the look on his face, you'd think he did that all on purpose!
It was a trip full of changes and new things. Cooper started eating chips and crackers whole, he decided he would rather eat from the adult plates and drink from the adult cups and do whatever the adults were doing. He said different words that were new like moon and beach. He started out the trip eating almost nothing (due to the fever most likely) and ended the trip eating more in one sitting than we've ever seen him eat! He has a voracious appetite for anything mexican; guacamole, salsa, quesadillas, anything.
We of course had a great time and learned alot. We're crossing our fingers that the TT's are over, that's not too much to ask right?
Oh, I can't even imagine Cooper having a TT. IT's just crazy because he is so mellow!
Well, I'm sorry you had to experience that on vacation and I'm sorry to say but it only gets worse when they get older because they get smarter.
But I don't think he will get that way. Fingers crossed!
Glad you had a good vacation. Sad we missed you on Friday at the work party.
Maylee had her first MELTDOWN at a friends house this weekend...her terrible two's started later in life...Isaac on the other hand started at like 18 months! But his didn't last long...
Maybe Cooper will go through this FUN phase quickly! Sorry he had to do it in public for the first time!
